The 1927 Film Daily Year Book included the Waldport Theatre with 150-seats. The theatre was referenced in other Oregon newspapers as early as 1930.
The WaldportTheatre went through a lot of owners. In early 1938, it was closed “for about two months” before locals Arden “Doc” Kratzer and Dave Hall signed a two-year lease to reopen it that July. Kenneth Curtis from Portland took over the Waldport Theatre one month later.
In August 1943, Waldport mayor Leo Goodman sold the theatre to Henry L. Harston.
In October 1948, E.A. Tedrow sold the Waldport Theatre to Lena McKevitt and her sons, Bob and Bill. In January 1952, Boxoffice reported that Jack and Florence from Corvallis OR had purchased the Waldport Theatre from McKevitt’s Inc. and were operating the movie house.
The 1955 Film Daily Year Book included the Waldport Theatre, now with 248-seats, on Main Street. Google Maps suggests that street has been since renamed.
