R.I. Condron launched the open air drive-in, Teatro El Patio in La Feria in 1941. The venue gave patrons the option of attending on foot and using open-air seating or driving and watching from the comfort of their vehicle. The venue was one of three theaters in town - two of which played Hispanic films. Teatro Royal was the other Spanish language in town at that time. Teatro El Patio has since closed and is no longer standing in La Feria.

Note: According to the trade press, the open air drive-in concept was only used for three seasons. The venue was then enclosed becoming a 250-seat hardtop. (For the curious.)
