This was a replacement for an earlier Lynwood Theatre which was located at 11179 Long Beach Boulevard at Elmwood Avenue. It was destroyed in the March 10, 1933 Long Beach Earthquake (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

The (new) Lynwood Theatre was opened on May 7, 1935 with Ralph Morgan in “Little Men” & Constance Bennett in “After Office Hours”. On March 4, 1947 it was taken over by Albert and Wayne Hanson (South-Lyn Theatres chain). It was closed by the South-Lyn Theatres chain on July 16, 1950.

By 1957 it had become a bowling alley named South-Lyn Bowling Lanes. It has since been demolished.
