A long-since demolished theater that thrived largely in the 1920’s, likely created specifically for the employees of Ingersoll-Rand Corp.
According to Sanborn Fire Insurance tax map records of 1921 (provided via the Library Of Congress, the theater (unnamed on the map) occupied the first floor, and the I.O.O.F. (Independent Order Of Odd Fellows) took residence on the second floor.
Image 6 shows the location at the corner of Iron Bridge and South Hamilton.
This is the approximate location (between North & South Hamilton, near the East/West Water Street intersection bisecting the Ingersoll-Rand campus) today, next to the I-86 exit ramp.
We are still looking for information regarding the opening, closure, and eventual demolition dates of this venue, as well as contemporary news articles and interior/exterior photographs (if any still exist).
The only evidence for its existence online (so far) are the tax maps, and the ongoing series of advertisements (without an address listed) in the Evening Leader, circa 1924 - 1925 (also so far), excerpted from uploaded full-issue scans provided by the Southeast Steuben County Library @ https://corningnyhistory.com/about/
