Royal Theater

The Royal Theater, a five-cent theater, was at 207 East Main Street. It was a motion-picture theater fitted with opera chairs, a stage, an “Edison motion picture machine and a double dissolving view machine". The Royal Theater opened May 4, 1907, with a “splendid orchestra, superb soloist, exclusive pictures and beautiful surroundings". It was operated by Jackson & Canan and offered 15 shows a day. It was still open into the early-1930’s, but was never equipped for sound movies and was listed as (Closed) in the 1933 edition of Film Daily Yearbook.

It has since been demolished and a parking for a bank now occupies the site, which is opposite the Muncie Civic Theatre.
