The Cinema Sunshine Yamatokoriyama opened its doors on July 1, 2011 by Sasaki Kogyo as the first Cinema Sunshine to operate in the Kinki region, housing 9 screens and 1,566 seats alongside 14 wheelchairs (two in each auditorium except Screens 6, 8, and 9). This was also the last operating mainstream movie theater operating in Nara City, which comes following the January 2010 closure of the eight-screen Cinema Department Yuraku after operating for more than 19 years.

Most of the screens housed two wheelchairs, except for Screens 8 and 9 which housed only one, and Screen 6 which housed none. That’s because Screen 6 is a 4DX theater. Screen 4 housed 372 seats as the largest auditorium there featuring IMAX Laser, while Screen 6 has the smallest amount of seats with 48 seats in total despite not being a normal auditorium. Screens 8 and 9 are the smallest normal auditoriums with 95 seats each. The rest of the auditoriums have ranging capacities of 137-279.
