Majestic Moving Picture House

This simple wooden theater was constructed sometime between 1904 and 1911 in a very basic two story wood-frame building. The theater was still operating in 1914-15, when it is listed in the AMPD (with a mistaken 7th Street address - 7th Street having become 5th Street by the time the theater opened).

Given its location directly behind the Lyric Theatre, and just down the block from the Opera House, its closure was a foregone conclusion. The 1917 map shows the building converted to a fire station. Given the location, this building was almost certainly destroyed in the 1928 fire which ravaged this block, but the 1931 map is not available online to confirm this. In any case, the site today is a vacant lot with the partial foundation of a long-vanished replacement.
