The Dixie Theatre was the first theatre in North Danville to have motion pictures and traveling acts. The Dixie Theatre then preceded by the Gem Theatorium at 618 N. Main Street which appears in the 1908 Danville Directory, and was strictly for stage shows.

The Dixie Theatre was an African-American theatre which appeared on the S. H. Dudley Circuit in the Chicago Defender from 1911 - 1916 under the management of J. H. Williams.
