Silky Otter Cinemas Ponsonby

Situated in the Ponsonby suburb of Auckland, the Silky Otter Cinemas opened in 2022. It is part of the fast-growing circuit that was co-founded around 2018-2019 by chief executive Neil Lambert. It is believed that its rather quirky name is intended to bring to mind an English or Irish pub.

The circuit has taken at least some inspiration from the UK’s Everyman cinemas and, like them, offers a very comfortable, premium viewing experience with a commensurate food and drink offering.

At Silky Otter Ponsonby Screens 1 to 3 each have 28 seats. The fourth screen, which has 23, is called the “LP Screening Room” after its sponsor, champagne company Laurent-Perrier.

The cinema shares its building with music software company Serato.
