The Skydrome Drive-In was began constructed on October 21, 1948 with an estimate $100,000, and opened its gates the following year in 1949. It was located on what at the time was named Spiceland Road. It was operated by Marcus-Wolf and Mendelssohn and initially had a capacity for 600-cars.
On June 2, 1963, 34-year-old James Pugh of Columbus, Indiana, was arrested that morning after slashing someone during a movie that previous day at the Skydrome Drive-In.
The Skydrome Drive-In closed in the 1970’s and was demolished later on to make way for a strip mall.
