The cinema and community centre was built 1925 for Maria and Todor Vlaykov. In her will, Maria Vlaykov left the building to the state.
The cinema burned down on 29-30 March 1944 during the bombing of Sofia. It was restored and re-opened later in 1944. Since 2020 the Kino Vlaykova has been a member of the Europa Cinemas Group of arthouse cinemas
