The Royal Theatre was a World War II suburban movie house near the Cathedral District of Saginaw. It launched on January 17, 1942 with Charlie Chaplin’s “The Great Dictator”. The Marr Theatre Co. operated both it and the Marr Theater. The Marrs closed both theaters within days of each other. The Royal Theatre closed on May 21, 1961 with Dolores Hart in “Where the Boys Are”. Both buildings were immediately offered for sale. The Royal Theatre was converted to senior citizen apartments called the Royal Manor. The building was subsequently demolished in 2015.
