This theatre appears on the 1914 map. It was located in the H.A. Luekens building. This was constructed in 1905 as a meat market, which remained in operation at least until 1908. There was a large ‘Summer Picture Garden’ located next door to the west, and surely associated with this theatre.
Although a fairly basic conversion of a storefront, the ground floor was opened at the front to allow for a small covered area near the entry. This operation was not a success, and the 1922 map shows a large garage replacing the airdome, and a dry goods store located in the theatre space.
Surprisingly, this building has survived in excellent condition, given the demolition of the garage/dealership which surrounded it on two sides. It is currently occupied by a bookstore. For some reason, a neon owl sign, which appears to be from the Wise potato chip company, has appeared on the side recently.
