Best Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1914 Sanborn and in the 1914-1915 edition of American Motion Picture Directory. Located in the southern storefront of a three story brick building constructed sometime between 1897 and 1904. The 1909 map shows this space as vacant.

Judging by the well-preserved storefront, this was most likely a basic conversion to capitalize on the movie craze. It had closed by 1926. Later maps are not available, but this reverted to retail many years ago. The building is in good shape, and this space is used by a clothing store.

The Best Theatre is one of three houses listed at Eureka Springs in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory, the others being the Wilke and the Electric Motion Picture Parlor. By 1926, the only house listed at Eureka Springs in the FDY was called the Commodore.
