Located in the Mitte district in the east of the city centre. The Union Theatre was opened on 4th September 1909. It had 800-seats. In 1910 it was enlarged to the plans of architects Schleyer & Rothing and the seating capacity was increased to 1,026-seats which were mainly located on the orchestra level, but there was also a small balcony which had slips extending to the proscenium. It was taken over by the Ufa chain and renamed U.T. Alexanderplatz and finally Ufa-Lichtspiele Alexanderplatz. It was destroyed by Allied bombs in 1943.
