Located in Kikby-in -Ashfield, Nottinghamshire at the eastern end of Unity Street at School Street (none of the streets in the area exist today due to mass redevelopment). The Kirkby Electric Picturedrome was a very basic wood building with a tin roof. Seating was on long wooden benches, and it had a dirt floor. It was mostly frequented by men who would keep their beer under the seats during performances. It was first used to screen magic lantern shows. It opened as a cinema by August 1910 when film of a boxing match between Tommy Burns & Jack Johnson was screened for 3-days and extended until the end of the week due to its popularity. Pianists Stella Sheldon & Charles Lindley accompanied the silent films.
The Kirkby Electric Picturedrome was closed in 1912. The building was removed to Clipstone Army Camp during World War I.
