Motion Picture Herald reported on June 28, 1947, that H. D. Hearn, head of Exhibitor’s Service in Charlotte, N. C, announced plans for “the Pfohl Theatre at Mt. Pleasant, N. C., seating 500 and scheduled to open August 1”.
The 1950 Film Daily Year Book listed two theaters for Mount Pleasant NC - the Paula Theatre and the Pfohl Theatre. Still both theatres in 1955, but by 1956, both had dropped out of listings.

Pfohl’s are a prominent family in Mt. Pleasant.
Why would H. D. Heard promote two fairly large theaters in the same very small town at the same time? Despite the repeated appearance of both names in the FDY, I suspect that the Pfohl was a phantom theater, and only the Paula actually existed.
