The Province Theatre opened in the late-1910’s as a replacement of the nearby Star Theatre after a September 22, 1916 fire destroyed that theater alongside the neighboring Union Clothing Store, a second-hand store, and a Chinese tailor shop.
The Province Theatre closed in 1937 when the new Avolie Theatre opened nearby which later became the Roxy Theatre (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures). It was destroyed by fire in 1938.
