This opened as a replacement of a nearby Red River Drive-In across the street.
There was not a lot of information, but this opened as the Oaklawn Cinema in the 1960’s under the independently-operated Texarkana Theatres chain. It was later taken over by Joy’s Theaters, followed by Gulf State Theatres, and finally United Artists.
It was closed in the early-1990’s and was converted into a live music and special events venue known as Oaklawn Opry by 1992.
By 2018, the building was remodeled and reopened as the BrightStar Theaters.

The drive-in theater across the street was called the Red River Drive-In (which will have its own Cinema Treasures page soon), and yes there are two Red River Drive-Ins in both Texarkanas.
