Just down Highway 147 from the original drive-in of that name (it has its own page on Cinema treasures), the West Springfield Drive-In showed movies for just one season, in 2021.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette wrote that the West Springfield Drive-In would open on the Big E Fairgrounds on April 23. It was scheduled to include a pair of 45x60-foot screens and could accommodate 300 cars. It was too close for the Big E in late September, then reopen in October for “holiday-themed experiences”.
In June 2021, the Boston Globe verified that the West Springfield Drive-In had opened, charging carload prices of $27 for single movies, $30 for double features.
In early-2022, the West Springfield Drive-In web site noted that it would not be open for the 2022 season, although it oddly concluded, “We hope to see you soon!”

Sounds like a Covid pop-up. We had one here for a year in a minor league baseball field.
Most likely a covid operation as per the above comment.
