Built as the first Columbia Theatre in 1903, the Belasco Theatre was also named the Portland Theatre and the Heilig Theatre during its brief life. According to Cecil Matson in ‘The Way It Was’, “After five years of active operation it was condemned due to faulty construction and had to be demolished in 1909.”
