Columbia’s Airdome Theatre located at the intersection of 10th Street and Walnut Street opened on July 10, 1906 with a live presentation of “Lost and Won” starring John J. Kennedy (that came directly from Casino Park in Steubenville, Ohio where they had closed a long engagement). It featured an attractive entrance being erected on the Farley lot.
The Airdome Theatre closed on September 28, 1913 after manager B.E. Hatton announced that he will convert the Airdome into an all-year indoor theatre. It later reopened less than a month later as the Hippodrome Theatre following extensive remodeling.
The Hippodrome Theatre was renamed the Walnut Street Theatre in 1915, and closed for the final time the following year in 1916.
