The 1950 Film Daily Year Book included the Princess Theatre, with 330 seats, in little Cross City.
On May 31, 1965, Boxoffice ran a confusing note, mistaking the Princess Theatre for a drive-in or claiming that a new ozoner was to replace the indoor theater.
“CROSS CITY, FLA. - Construction has begun on a new 200-car Princess Drive-In east of Cross City, replacing the one that burned last month. The airer is expected to be open for business prior to August 1. Mahlon McKinney, owner, said it will feature the latest in sound equipment and other furnishings, along with modern lighting, entrance building and snack bar facilities. The first Princess Theatre was built in 1925 by J. M. McKinney. About two years later it burned and a new theatre was built in its place in 1927. That building burned on April 13.”
