The New Theatre opened with Fredric March in “The Dark Angel” on August 3, 1937 and goes bankrupt in February 1944. It was placed on Auction on March 1, 1944 and sold to its winning bidder, Chakeres Theatres Inc. for $32,600. It reopened shortly after and renamed Franklin Theatre on November 2, 1945 and closed or placed its last advertisement in the State Journal on October 29, 1951.
