Bennettsville had at least two drive-ins. After Bond’s Drive-In opened in 1948, the second was the Starlite Drive-In.
A roundup in Boxoffice magazine of “drive-ins opened or put under construction” in the first quarter of 1952 included Bennettsville’s Starlite, with a (projected?) capacity of 400, owned by Tom Britt.
The 1953-54 Theatre Catalog listed the Starlite, capacity 200, owner W. C. Evans.
There was also a third drive-in location just south of Bennettsville on modern-day Throop Street about 900 feet south of Highway 9. Aerial photos show that it was built between 1957 and 1971.
