The Strand Theatre opened in 1919 on 901 Central Avenue in Prince Albert, replacing the previous Star Theatre at that address. In its early years, the Strand Theatre played silent films prior to the advent of sound movies. The single-screen venue had 965 seats in its auditorium.
In later years, Famous Players operated the Strand Theatre in collaboration with local partner Strand Theatre Ltd., which also operated the Prince Albert Cinemas (now the Galaxy Cinemas Prince Albert), the Pines Drive-In Theatre and the Nor-Lite Drive-In in the city. The Strand Theatre closed in April 1977 and, following renovations for retail use, is now occupied by North Star Trophies, a trophy and screen-printing store.
