Valley Cinema

The Village Theatre was located in the Lincoln Center South, Lakeview district to the north of Stockton. It opened on June 29, 1966 with Audrey Hepburn in “My Fair Lady”. It was operated by Joe Furfaro & Elmer Harper and was designed by Stockton based architectural firm Ernst & Lloyd. In 1978 Furfaro & Harper sold the Village Theatre to Edward Fonseca and it was remodeled and equipped with 70mm projection and six track stereo sound. It was renamed Valley Cinema and was closed on June 30, 1982.

Since closing the building has hosted a variety of business’s. By 2024 the former lobby was in use as Chico’s Clothing Store and the auditorium was a Trader Joe’s speciality grocery store.
