Elite Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1913 Sanborn, in the eastern half of a large 2-story brick commercial building that was constructed sometime between 1885 and 1892. The 1905 map shows this space selling stoves and farm implements.

As originally constructed, this building was partially in the river, but the bank was extended flush with the west side at some point. A postcard view shows it was a tin-front with a peaked pediment on the cornice. Due to its location at the end of the bridge, it is cut out of eastward views, and is small and indistinct in westward views.

The Elite Theatre remained in operation through at least 1920, but had closed by 1926 and the building was demolished many years ago. The site is a vacant lot.
