The Picture Show Theatre opened in 1974 in the Monahan building dating from 1890 in the Fairhaven neighborhood. It had a basic interior with exposed brick side walls and was only 25’ wide. It started with 16mm but switched to 35mm after an ownership change in the early-1980’s. It operated until the early-1990’s but closed after a new multi-plex at Bellis Fair Mall made film distribution difficult. Retail now occupies the space.
