In November 2021 D Magazine remembered the IMAX Theatre at Science Place, Fair Park, which had sat vacant for years.
The Dallas Morning News reported the 329-seat IMAX Theater opening June 15, 1996. It was funded by Texas Instruments and designed by Lyle Burgin of Corgan Associates for $3 million.
The first Hollywood film to be presented at TI Founders 79-foot- diameter, 60-foot-high Omnimax screen was “Fantasia 2000” in December 1999.
The TI Founders IMAX dropped out of the listings in July 2012 with the film “Whales”.
In 2004 the Science Place was renamed the Museum of Nature & Science and in December 2012 the Museum moved to the Perot Museum without an IMAX.
