Originally a pub named the Star Inn and located at the corner of E. Main Street & North Street. The Star Theatre was open by 1927 when it was operated by Thomas Milne. Around 1930 it was equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) sound system. By 1934 it was operated by I.R. Grove. It was possibly closed in 1938 when the new Regal Cinema opened. In 2013 it was converted into housing.
