Midcontinental Theatres opened the Colony Twin Theatre on February 3, 1978 with Gregory Peck in “MacArthur” & Bibi Andersson in “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”. Screen 1 had 340-seats and Screen 2 had 200-seats. The Grand Forks Herald, April 23, 1988, noted the Colony Twin Theatre was celebrating its tenth anniversary. With the opening of the Midco 10 on May 6, 1994, the Colony Twin converted to a discount operation.

Previously home to Midcontinent Theatre’s general offices, which were moved to the Midco 10, the Colony Twin Theatre ended its days August 18, 1994, with John Goodman in “The Flintstones” and Jeff Bridges in “Blown Away”.

The Sonoma lofts was built on the site in 2014.

Midcontinent Theatres opened the Colony Twin on February 3, 1978 with “MacArthur” in Screen 1 and “I Never Promised A Rose Garden” in Screen 2. It originally scheduled to open on January 27, 1978 but was postponed for unknown reasons. It housed 540 seats (with 340 in Screen 1 and 200 in Screen 2).
