The above overview is incorrect. This theatre never opened as Page Cinemas Art Theatre , an awful name if I have ever heard one.
This theatre should be listed as Page Manor Twin Cinemas , the last name it operated under.
After the Page Manor Twin Cinemas was closed in 2006 it sat vacant.
In 2010 a “ group ” leased the theatre and began soliciting for funds referring to the theatre a Page Cinema Art Theatre.
There was never any new signage put with this new awful name for the place.
In 2011 after a year of suppose soliciting for funds , the theatre was still not opened.
The landlord and others who gave this “group” funding found out that money was being used for other’s personal gain.
As a criminal investigation began the theatre was later demolished.
There was a fire that destroyed about half of the Page Manor Shopping Center , but the theatre’s fate had nothing to do with that.
This is the Page Manor Twin Cinemas. The Page Cinema Art Theatre was never opened , it was a money scam.

This theatre’s genesis is found in January of 1965 when the Broumas Theatre Circuit was building new shopping center theaters throughout Ohio, Maryland and Virginia. This was to be #47 for Broumas which was part of a $750,000 expansion of the Page Manor shopping complex that included the $250,000 Page Manor Theatre. However, by late 1966, Broumas was in severe financial distress followed by its 1967 bankruptcy. The project was taken over - as was another failed Broumas project in Phoenix, the Thomas Mall Cinema - by Century Theatres which opened both in May of 1967.

This opened on May 24th, 1967 by Century theatres of Brooklyn – Long Island NY and sold to Charkeres in 1975. 2 screens on December 21st, 1977 and closed in 1993. Reopened 1994-1998, January 30th, 2004-2006. 1967, 1977 and 2004 grand opening ads in the photo section.
Did a little Google searching and came upon a site with a lot of depressing Page Manor interior photos. Uploaded a better picture of the exterior. There was actually a closeup but the “O” was missing. Obviously vacant. Also the sign trying to drum up support for the theater and a picture of the main auditorium. From the comment on the photo it was inferred that the second theater, seating 271 was carved from the rear of the original auditorium. Photo of the second auditorium was already in the photo section.
My company opened a Dayton satellite office in the 1970s and I happened to see an ad for this theater in a newspaper that one of my associates brought back to New York. I was surprised to see the Century name since the company was based in Brooklyn, NY and, until the advent of shopping centers was basically a Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island operation. They did foray onto Staten Island and in to New Jersey. Was surprised they went as far a Dayton. I wonder if they others of which I’m not aware.
Would be nice if some “in the day photos” could be found.
Although the above mentioned fire did not damage the theatre, I sadly must report that the Page went under the wrecking ball and bulldozer today (11 April 2011). The decision to tear down the theatre came as a complete surprise to everyone including the Mayor and Development Director of Riverside. Nouveau Cinema Group, a Dayton based non-profit is now looking for a new venue in the Miami Valley.
The status of this theatre should be changed to DEMOLISHED.
Sadly, there was recently a large fire engulfing a large part of the Page Manor shopping center where this theater is located. The moviehouse was dark, not operating and more than likely will be demolished along with much of the center due to the destruction caused by the fire.

Nouveau Cinema Group, Inc. (NCGI) today announced a special fund raising event for THE PAGE Cinema Arts Theatre Thursday evening, January 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at the Café Monet which is located in the Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH. According to NCGI spokesperson, Rick Martin, the event will feature live and film entertainment, wine and soft drinks and finger-foods, door prizes as well as an opportunity for people interested in this non-profit group, potential volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Those unable to pay will be admitted free after 8:00PM. Further information and tickets are available by calling 937 613-4432

I just got back from the Dayton Amateur Radio Convention. This is what I saw. The sign above the Marquee out front says Telkamp Theatres but the rest of the sign, while still intact, is blank. The sign in the window says: For Lease, (866)933-1498, Schottenstein property group. Maverick DR, the side street, is blocked to thru traffic by a guard rail at the rear of the theatre. The inside has been spruced up (painted lighter colors) with newer carpet around the ticket booth since August 2002. The background behind the “Page Man r†is still that blue above the canopy and the o is still missing from the Manor.
I cannot speak for this decade, as the couple of times I went the presentation wasn’t very good. But during the stretch under Telkamp in the 90s, this was my favorite place to see a film. The back screen was/is huge, and the sound system top notch. They ran a midnight series which was flat-out wonderful, and how I saw many great 70s and 80s films on the big screen for the first time. In fact, this is where I spent my last night as a bachelor. One of the employees there owned a print of Star Wars on 35 mm; one of the great movie going experiences of my life was watching that print on the back screen. I really miss this place.
It is so sad that Page Manor Twin closed. I ran a movie group for moms and kids in the mornings on Mondays and Tuesdays there, and we miss it very much. Mr. Kinney and Mr. Augustine were very nice (although it was tough to get them to return a call for theater rental information). I hope that someone re-opens the theater with more trust-worthy employees. It’s really nice inside, but sad when the lock on the front door is just some wire to keep it shut. I considered offering to run the theater while I was there, and now I wish I would have knowing now that the people working it were so dishonest. I’m sad to see it go. But thanks Mr. Augustine and Mr. Kinney for a few good movies while it lasted.

This is not to start rumors or talk about of anyone. The biggest down fall of the theatre is the greatest opportunity it once had. Joe Kinney is a great guy; he is very smart and runs Joe’s Heat & Air. Joe has a big heart and that got him in to trouble and doomed the theatre before it was ever open. Joe put a lot of time and money in to PMTC.
Charlie was the guy who only on paper owned part of PMTC with Joe. Charlie was to put his 50 plus years of theatre operation know how into it and Joe put the money in.
Mr. Augustine a teacher by day emailed me and said he saw the theatre was opening and wanted to know if we (PMTC) needed his help.

Mr. Augustine stabbed the 70 year Charlie in the back when he knew Joe was the money man and pushed Charlie out. This also was helped by Joe’s Dad who felt because of the last 20years Charlie owned Cinema â€"X-East it would look bad on PMTC.
The theatre opened on a Friday in January 04. That Charlie was let go that night. The theatre was to be $2.50 and play movies before they left first run. This is like an intermediate policy even though most do not use the term anymore. The former Beaver Valley Cinema which in now The Bargain Box Office operates the same way. They play a movie that left Regal but is at other first-runs.
Joe instead of talking to the studios from his booker and Mr. Augustine’s lack of theatre know how pulled the movies and played day and date with Danbarry. After a few months and being closed almost 6 years Mr. Augustine thought best to make is a dollar and even tried to change the name to Page Manor Dollar Cinema.
Over and over Joe would talk about cloing it. Almost all the time from month 2 to just weeks ago.
The past few years have seen Augustine hire unfriendly friends who the “trained†and thought the knew the world to hiring “operators†with pink and blue hair who banned all kids under 16 so he didn’t have to tell them to be quite. Skateboards and people lying on the floor it was a mess.
Free concessions going out everywhere the cost was out there and it wasted. A 900plus week pay roll and $12,000 concession spending. PMTC went back at the end to $2.00 admission and pulled the same patrons as a dollar. Instead the were just losing $1.00 for a year! Augustine had a bright idea of making a bargain day of $1.00, but did it on Fridays one of the busiest time for theatres.
The lease was final up and Joe did not want to renew and PMTC closed.
Owner Blames Employee Thefts For Theater’s Closing

RIVERSIDE, Ohio — The owner of a suburban Dayton movie theater said he has shut the place down because of rampant stealing by employees.
Joe Kinney describes the thefts as “off the hook” at Page Manor Cinema in Riverside, so he closed the second-run theater on Saturday after more than two years in business.
He said that over the past two years, he had to fire more than 30 employees who made off with money, as well as a pinball machine.
Kinney was the latest to operate the Page Manor, which originally opened in 1967.

Mr. Augustine is very upset by the comments left here about him.
Mr. Augustine wants everyone to know that he alone cannot be responsible for what is taking place at Page Manor. Mr. Augustine is just an employee who loves show business, like many of you who use this site.
Mr. Augustine has given ideas to the Manor’s owner.
The owner however pays the bills and has final word on the daily operations.
Mr. Augustine understands there are a lot of people who are feuding with Page Manor or its owner and maybe wanting to damage either Page Manor or the theater’s owner but please not take it out on Mr. Augustine.
Mr. Augustine also wants to address the negative reporting in regards to the box office reports. The Page Manor has struggled over the past two years but is now averaging around 300-330 per day and Mr. Augustine hopes that it continues.
Mr. Augustine also wants to address the “illegal plays" of DVD movies.
Mr. Augustine has this to say “To this day the Page Manor Twin Cinemas has stopped playing any DVD movies and has not heard anything further by the copyright holders about any penalties or legal actionâ€.
Mr. Augustine also would like to address the “lackey†statements. If trying to help the Page Manor stay open and assist the owner makes me a “lackey†well I guess I am. I have too much to deal with to be worried by name-calling.-PS At least spell my name right.

Page Manor Cinema.com it is weak having not been updated since last year. They now having what starts Friday listed but it is very plain. Page Manor Cinemas.com just talks about “Rocky Horror”. I’ll give a $1 for a movie but $20 if they would get the lead out and run even a web site right!!1
