Located in Ashtead, Surrey, between Epsom & Leatherhead and now considered part of Greater London as it is ‘just’ within the M25 ring road. It was a very basic building with a corrugated iron roof and a plain facade. Built as a roller-skating rink in the early-1900’s, it could accommodate 60-skaters, but the craze soon waned, and in 1905 it was converted into the Rink Cinema, but still with some roller-skating sessions. It was offered ‘For Sale’ in June 1912 and was renamed Palace Cinema. It was still open in March 1913 but had closed by the beginning of World War I in 1914.
The building was used as a cabinet workshop followed by various light industry usage and has since been demolished and some post-World War II housing now occupies the site.
