While researching the production of Buster Keaton’s film of The General, I ran across this unexpected item from the Roseburg News-Review, vol. 27, no. 162, Tuesday, June 15, 1926, page 3, column 6:

LOCAL NEWS Goes To Cottage Grove — Mr. E. A. Gross, owner and manager of the Liberty Theatre, left today for Cottage Grove, where he will spend a couple of days on the location of the Buster Keaton Movie Company, who are engaged in making a picture near that place.

In my limited personal experience, it is unheard-of for a cinema owner or manager to take the slightest interest in movies. So, this Mr. E.A. Gross, unknown to me, has earned my respect.

Operated as the Palace Theatre as early as 1910.
