Pavilion Theatre

The 1,800-seat Pavilion Palace of Varieties was built by variety theatres impresario Thomas Barrasford and opened on 29th February 1904. It was designed by theatre architect Bertie Crew in a French Renaissance style, with seating in stalls, dress circle and balcony levels. As in all theatres operated by the Barrasford Circuit, it was equipped with a Barrascope projector to screen films as part of the programme of variety acts.

The Pavilion Theatre continues to operate today as a live theatre. The seating capacity has been reduced to 1,449, with 677 in the stalls, 341 in the circle, 413 in the balcony and 18 box seats.
