The Rex Theatre was opened by 1917. Okawville was a little town with a population of 700 people as of World War II had a theatre located downtown. It was renamed Main Theatre in 1939.
Right when the population of the town grew 20.8% from 700 to approximately 850 in 1950, the Main Theatre has upgraded multiple things including the installation of CinemaScope in 1954.
The Main Theatre ran both stage shows and films during its history. But two years right after the installation of CinemaScope comes the theatre at its last legs, and it closed for the final time in late-1956.
However, there was one last article by the Nashville Journal about the Main Theatre three years later in 1959. Although pages of the Nashville Journal were stuck with advertisements without the Main Theatre.
