Located at the corner of Bank Street and St. John Street, opposite the Burgh Chambers and Public library. The Volunteer Hall was built as a purpose-built drill hall for the Galashiels Rifle Volunteers. It was opened on 17th June 1875 with a bazaar. The hall was also used regularly for theatre productions, both amateur & professional and was used as a cinema until the Pavilion Cinema opened on Channel Street in 1911.
Today it is used as a community hall and also a live music venue.
