The 1952 Theatre Catalog listed the Star Drive-In under Turnertown, owner R. M. Shaw, capacity 400 cars and 400 seats for walk-in patrons

Industry publications noted Shaw’s occasional visits to Dallas Film Row on behalf of the Star Drive-In as early as August 15, 1951, and as late as January 21, 1963.

In 1971, Rusk County filed charges against the Star Drive-In operators, Walton Beggs of Tyler and Alan Gaston of Gladewater, for allegedly showing an obscene film.

Aerial photos from 1954 and 1971 showed a drive-in east of Turnertown, an unincorporated community in Rusk County. Nothing remains of the drive-in today. The auto paint and body shop that occupies the site today gets its mail service from the Overton post office seven miles away.

The drive-in sat behind the auto paint and body shop, but also behind the two properties just to the east as well.

The entire area is overgrown with trees. The screen sat just to the east of the large pond which sits well behind the auto paint and body shop.
