Amy, I missed the Bruce sighting, but heard all about it. My brush with fame was when Mickey Rooney saw a movie there. I guess you win! I do remember when Amadeus was there and you changed your name tag to Amydeus. Cute.

I just stumbled on this upon learning this cinema had been torn down. Tom Fischbach, I’m the Amy you refer to! :) I loved working at the cinema, too. Were you there when Bruce Springsteen came to Terminator late one night with the E-Street band? The cinema manager, I forget his name, LOVED Springsteen and he was so psyched. We all stayed late to get autographs. Fun memories.

I worked at Clarkson 6 in 1984, the first summer it was open. It was a brand new theater with all new employees. It was the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had. One of those summers you wish would never end. Especially remember Peggy, Susan, and Amy. Sorry to hear it was torn down. State of the art at the time.

I saw Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade in 70mm TXH at the Clarkson. It was the only time I went there. The main auditorium was pretty cool!!

Multiplex-happy installation that had one redeeming auditorium, the main one! That was very good, with 70mm and 6-track Dolby Stereo capabilities. Very fond memories of seeing “Amadeus” epecially in 1984. Also, “2010,” “Top Gun” and “The Hunt for Red October.” The remaining auditoriums were non-descript at best.

The Clarkson 6 Cine' has been leveled and in it’s location is now a pet store. I used to love going to that theater. It was a family tradition to fight the crowds and see a movie the day after Thanksgiving. Now we have the Galaxy 14 and they have just now built an AMC theater inside Chesterfield Mall.

Heya Charles,

Since you seem to be the resident expert regarding the St. Louis area theatres, I have a question for you. Drop me a line at

Thanks!
