I enjoy going to The Johnstown Movie-Plex, it’s one of the nicest theatre’s in the area and sure beats having to go 45 mins down the road to watch a movie, as well as pay for the extra gas and extra price in tickets. The staff has always been very nice and willing to help. I have to agree that the theatre isn’t a babysitter for people with kids even though it sure seems that’s what the parents in Johnstown do, just drop off thier kids on the weekend and expect them to actually go see a movie.
I go to the Johnstown Movie Plex at least once a week, with my kids and the staff and manager are wonderful, I ’ve been going since it opened and if there was a problem, they have been handled very professionaly by the manager. I think the people on this site who have negative things to say, (one) didn’t get things their way (two)have too much time on there hands. I think the Movie Plex is wonderful, the prices are good, popcorn is excellent, the staff is friendly and happy and they go out of their way to please. I ’ve been to the other theaters in our area, NO Thanks I love the wonderful vibes at the Johnstown theater. And remember there is ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY!!!!
I find it refreshing to hear the opinion of the employees of the theater (and their friends and family) who do not prefer a quiet, comfortably heated theater; where an adult crowd can watch & hear an nc-17 film containing graphic sex, sadistic torture scenes or any such thing completely unsuitable for my 12 or 13 year old unsupervised child. Unless you are there to watch a less controversial/ less graphic movie that does not appeal as much to the younger patrons or attending a film with your kids while wearing your winter boots and jacket; I think that the 15 minute ride to the next theater is worth it even though I have the typical hectic schedule of any devoted mom and homemaker while working full time.
I am a local teacher in the area and I want to let you know what wonderful place this theater is, I also Know Ms. Bouck, please Remember like the other comment said “THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY”. Shame on those who have too much time on their hands and like conflict. And also in the 10 years I ’ve gone to this theater, I asked, they have never had a nc-17 movie there.
Wow I go here a lot and I’m surprised at the people who complain. I was watching a movie, the film got screwed up so I went and told them and next thing you know its fixed. It may of been that bratty teen who made your life a living hell there, not the entire establishment. Also about it being cold, you went in july i’m assuming because that is what the date is when you posted, would you really want a toasty theatre in the middle of july? Be realistic and stop complaining.
The chain for this theater should be Cinema North Corporation.
The Cinema North Corporation has ceased operations. The Johnstown Movieplex 9 is closed. The Manager of the Pyramid Mall, where it is located, hopes to get another movie chain to take over the building.
Partners Bruce Wendell and Joseph Tesiero will reopen the former Johnstown Movie Plex on December 5, 2009.
The Multiplex in Johnstown continues to show first run motion pictures. It is well maintained.
Still a great place to see a movie.
