Rancho Drive-In

Located north of town on US-183. As advertised in Refugio Timely Remarks, the 300-car Rancho Drive-In opened October 19, 1950 with Donald O'Conner in “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby”.

The manager was Robert B. Miller, formerly of Borger Theatres and now Refugio Theatres, which included the towns' Rialto Theatre.

It was said to be located on the eastside of Highways 29 and 202, which apparently were later renamed.

Found it!

It was located at 172 US 183, Rufugio, TX.

The drive in can be see in aerial photos from 1951, 1952, and 1956. However, by 1972 the drive in had completely disappeared.

Today, Express Cash Loans sits on the site with a pond taking up a large part of the property. There is no trace of the drive in remaining.
