P.H. Sharkey found an exiting downtown Nelson location to launch a move theatre, the Nelson Theatre on January 27, 1923. The silent-era theatre boasted of “good clear pictures” and likely delivered them effectively until a new-build, sound movie theatre was built in Jasper just seven miles away. The Jasper Theatre opened June 13, 1929. The Nelson Theatre closed July 12, 1929. According to the local paper, the theatre was converted to a spread house.
