Opened on July 1, 1965. The July 26, 1965 issue of Boxoffice announced: “The new 785-car Lake Air Drive-In has been opened on U.S. Highway 84 and New Highway 6 by Lee Roy Mitchell with the showing of "Genghis Khan” starring Stephen Boyd & Omar Sharif. The $200,000 Lake Air Drive-In is the first theatre of any type built in Waco in more than a decade and the first new drive-in constructed here in 14 years.
A 1970 aerial photo showed the drive-in at the northern corner of the highway intersection. It was closed on December 8, 1974.
However, the Lake Air Drive-In’s first, belated appearance in the Motion Picture Almanac drive-in list was in the 1977 edition. Its owner was ABC Interstate, but that company’s MPA circuit list entry did not include the Lake Air Drive-In. By 1981, it had been replaced by the Richland Mall.

Boxoffice, March 21, 1966: “WACO, TEX. - Interstate Theatres, through its Texas Consolidated division, has purchased the local Lake Air Drive-In from J. C. Mitchell of Waco, Leroy Mitchell of Ennis and Roy Nelson of Kaufman. Interstate assumed operation of the theatre in February.”
Opened On July 1, 1965.
The Lake Air Drive-In closed its gates for the final time on December 8, 1974 in connection to the opening of the Cinema I & II.
