TOP: In late February 1928 Police Superintendent of Traffic Charles Turbet (center), and his successor James Bennetts, in the private lane beside the Regent Stalls, are shown an area of land - where the Trocadero was later built – allocated to provide free parking for 300 Regent patron cars. (A further 200 or so spots were claimed to be available across the road in Wilmot Street.) BELOW: On 29th February 1928, a few days before opening, the Regent auditorium is inspected by James Mitchell N.S.W. Commissioner of Police, and Henry Edgar Morton Sydney City Council Civic Commissioner. Hoyts Managing Director Francis W. Thring, at right, is obviously pleased to show off his ‘baby’.
