Built in the 1960’s, the bamboo scaffolding temporary theatre was for the entertainment of the residents of Chaiwan on the eastern end of the Hong Kong Island. Films were shown in the evening, while according to memories of Chaiwan residents, Cantonese operas were programmes in the afternoon.

The name of the theatre, seating capacity, exact opening and closing date are still pending further research.
