The Marshall Theatre was opened by 1923. Several old newspaper articles write about a movie theatre in Marshall, OK. One clipping, dated October 10, 1935, stated that the Marshall picture house has been vacant for some time, now renovated by a local man and will re-open on October 12, 1935. The 200-seat Marshall Theatre was listed in the 1938 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as (Closed).
Another 1954 news story talks about two high school lads, Dick Roupe & Ted Hoffer, who have re-opened the Marshall picture show for Saturday through Monday screenings. It was closed in the mid-1950’s.

Here is a possible aka for the Marshall Theatre, from an item in the May 4, 1935 issue of Motion Picture Herald which says “FRANK MORGAN has been recently appointed skipper or the Mecca Theatre at Marshall, Oklahoma.” Marshall was an extraordinarily tiny town to have a movie theater at all (population 400 in 1928) so it’s very unlikely there was a second house there. The only movie house listed at Marshall in the 1928 FDY was called the Lyric Theatre (250 seats) which is another possible aka. The Marshall Theatre is listed in the 1951 FDY with 230 seats. The town then had a population of 382.
The Msrshall Theatre dates back as early as 1923 according to the Marshall Tribute. The Marshall Theatre closed its doors for the final time during the CinemaScope boom in the mid-1950s.
