The Royal Theatre opened its doors on June 27, 1947 with Robert Mitchum in “West of the Pecos” along with an unnamed Hugh Herbert comedy and an unnamed cartoon. The theater was operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dave Williams. On April 3, 1955, the Royal Theater installed CinemaScope with “Broken Lance” being the theater’s first CinemaScope film.
This friendly theater continued to operate throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s as both a movie house and a special events theater. Its closing date is not known yet, so the hunt still continues.
