The old name on the top of the facade is ‘Kinoteatr Mir’. Probably a Soviet-era building.
Following some research it is now known that the cinema is named after Barpy Alykulov 1884 -1949. He was a famous Kyrgyz singer and story teller who wrote of peasant life in czarist days. His place of birth was Suzak; a settlement to the west of Jalal-Abad city.
