Regent Picture House

Located in Chard, Somerset. The Picture House was opened around 1925 with 320-seats. Around 1930 it was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. Around 1938 it was re-named Regent Picture House.

It suffered a severe fire in 1947 and was rebuilt, reopening in 1948 with 360-seats. In the mid-1960’s it was operating as a cinema, but also as a part-time bingo club. It was closed in the early-1970’s and became a snooker club. That closed in 2001 and the building was demolished in 2002.
